Something Interesting
For the first assignment in VSFX406, we were instructed to bring "something interesting" to class with the only one guideline -- no computer generated imagery.
Tardigrade Fun Facts
1. Tardigrades are approximately 0.5 mm in length.
2. Some species of tardigrades can survive temperatures of -272°C and others can withstand 150°C.
3. They can survive for several years and be re-hydrated after being almost entirely dehydrated.
4. Dehydrated tardigrades can be re-hydrated after being exposed to the vacuum of space.
For this assignment, I brought in the soft toy seen above. Despite having knitted for the last fifteen years, up until now, I have not been able to get a hang of crochet before now. This is the first crochet project I have ever completed.
This little guy is a tardigrade made as a Christmas gift for my girlfriend, who immediately dubbed him Terrance. Terry has a few problems -- six legs instead of eight because I ran out of yarn, a leg with two claws instead of three because I miscounted my stitches -- but I feel that they give him charm.
